I share my song 'Righteous Forsaken,' inspired by the psalm, and discuss how its teachings can guide us to a prosperous life. I break down three key steps to achieve prosperity: seeking godly counsel, avoiding the path of sinners, and not sitting in the seat of the scornful. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of delighting in and meditating on the law of the Lord day and night. Join me as we dive deep into these timeless and encouraging words.

I am your host. And, please subscribe to this podcast if you haven't already, put it on your podcast player. For those of you who are returning, thank you so much. If you're new to the show, I invite you in, you're welcome. Come on in. We're going to be blessed tonight by a psalm, one of my favorite psalms, psalm number one.
King David wrote in the Bible, and I'm going to play a little chorus that I wrote with the words of this psalm. So you're in the right place at the right time. The name of this show is You Will Prosper, Righteous Forsaken. You Will Prosper. The name of the song, my song, is Righteous Forsaken.
And the subtitle is You Will Prosper. Will prosper. Isn't that good news? That sounds good. Huh? Yeah. I want to be in a place that's telling me I'm going to do well. I'm going to make it, I'm going to defeat my enemies. I'm going to complete my destiny. I am going to prosper. You are going to prosper.
Yes. And so we're going to read the Psalm that tells us this is Psalm number one. And I'm going to read it, not the entire psalm, but the first few verses. Psalm 1. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the Lord.
And in his law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper. Amen. Doesn't that sound good? So we're gonna, let me play the bridge to my song, Righteous Forsaken, that has these words in here from Psalm 1.
And then we're going to talk about the words in the song and see how they will help us build a relationship that lasts, a relationship founded on the rock. That is Jesus Christ, the rock of our salvation, the rock of your salvation, the rock of my salvation, Jesus Christ. So here we go, Rites is Forsaken!
You're like a tree, planted by the river. Bare
fruit. It's your season,
your leaves shall not wither.
Yes, you do. You will prosper, saints.
Let's hear it one more time. It's just so encouraging. You're like a tree planted by the river,
your leaves shall not wither,
everything you do. I skipped a line. I just wanted to get to the punchline, right? Okay. You're like a tree planted by the river.
Bare fruit.
It's your season.
Your leaves
Shall not wither.
Yes, You will prosper. God saves the Righteous. Yes God saves the righteous.
Isn't it wonderful that God saves the righteous? So I want to just talk a little bit about what that means so you can be blessed and you can prosper. Because if that's what it takes for God to bless me and prosper me and for me to be living in prosperity, then I want to do that. You want to do that.
I'm sure you don't want to miss out on your blessing. So there are some qualifications that we hear in Psalm one that we have to just be careful about. So I'm just going to go back over those and read what it says. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. So that's number one.
So step one, how to prosper, how to be that fruit, that tree planted by the river. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. What does that mean, Shira Ashanti? Okay, that means you're not taking the advice of People who are wicked, who are evil, who are not following God. Maybe they're not like evil or they're trying to, maybe they're not trying to do something wicked, but they're just not following God.
The advice they're giving is just, it's not godly. It's not right. It's not going according to the Bible. It's not, it's just not right. And so blessed are you. When you don't walk in their counsel, don't get counsel from someone who is not godly, who is ungodly. So that's number one. And so find someone who can help you, who can counsel you, who can speak words of life into you so that you can prosper.
And I am one of those people. I am a relationship coach. And you can always contact me if you need to, I will put a link in the description. If you would like to contact me about some godly counsel, I will be happy to help you. So that's step number one, get godly counsel. Okay.
How to be, we're talking about how to prosper. The name of this show is You Will Prosper. So get godly counsel. Number two, step number two.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners. Ooh, what does that mean? Nor stands in the path of sinners. Nor stands in the path of sinners. What's a sinner? A sinner is someone who disobeys God willingly all the time. I'm not talking about, Oh, you're following God, you're doing the best you can, and maybe you have a mistake here or there, but, you really don't want to, you really want to obey God.
So when you make a mistake, what do you do? You ask for forgiveness. Say, God, I'm sorry for saying that. I'm sorry for what I did today. Please forgive me. And that's it. And he'll forgive you. I'm not talking about making a mistake here and there. We're all human. We're going to make mistakes here and there.
I'm talking about a sinner, someone who is constantly, willingly disobedient to God, who doesn't follow the way of God, who doesn't do anything good. With their life, who an evil thinker, a witch, a warlock, people who do evil things to other people just, and they enjoy it. People who are just, they're not godly, number one, they're ungodly, obviously, but they're sinners.
They're sinners. They're willingly disobeying God. So that's the difference. See. An ungodly person, maybe they just, they don't know God, so they're not necessarily trying to be ungodly. They just are because they haven't taken the time and the effort to get to know God. But the sinner is more of someone who they know about God, okay?
But they are at, they're against God. And so blessed are you if you do not stand in their path. What does that mean? Standing in the path of sinners sounds like you're standing there talking with them. You're trying to find out what they do. Oh, what kind of potion do you have? Oh, you use that potion?
Really? Oh, you put a spell on him? Is that why he's in love with you? Wow. You're standing in the path of a sinner. Okay? You don't need to find out what they're doing and how they're doing their evil. It doesn't matter. They won't. They won't defeat you if you're walking with God, if you're one of those trees planted by the river of water.
So you don't need to know all of that. There's a scripture. Oh, I'm thinking about it. And it says, it's, I'm a paraphrase. It says be innocent of evil. You don't need to spend your time studying evil things and a way to oh, some people think if I get to know what they do, then I can pray against it better.
No, you don't need to do all that. Okay. Just pray against them. You don't have to know the specifics. Just pray against people who are sinners and that's enough. Okay. So you're like the tree planted by the river. Bare fruit. It's your season. Let's keep going. So blessed is the man. Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
Ooh. Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. That means you're the one doing the scorn. If you're sitting in the seat of the scornful, you're the one doing the scorn, most likely. So what is scorn? Scorn is like when you let's say there's a godly person and you just hate them just because they're godly and you just ugh, it's like you just disdain them because you just don't, you're against God.
You don't like God. So it's not necessarily you're trying to do something against them. This is more of a mindset against. Godly people Oh, I just don't like those Christians or I don't like those whoever, whatever belief they come against. It's that's someone who's scornful. And to me, those people are some of the worst kind because they're just, they're adversarial to God.
It is so unpleasant to be around him. And so you don't want to sit in that seat. You don't want to be one of those people. Who are saying, Oh, look at her reading a Bible. Oh my God. Give us a break. You don't have to listen. You do not have to listen to people reading a Bible. If that's not what you're into.
If you don't love God, it's just it's so strange to me. If you don't, if you not, if you don't love God, if you don't. If that's definitely something you don't want to get into being a holy person or living according to the word of God, why waste your time listening to it? I just, anyway.
Okay. So let's go over it one last time. We have three steps to be blessed. Okay. Here are the three steps to be blessed. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. So we're not. Hanging out with ungodly people. If you have any ungodly friends, you're going to have to separate yourself.
If you have friends who are ungodly, I know it may be hard for some, especially if you've known them for a while, maybe you're dating someone who's ungodly. Oh, maybe you're in love with someone who's ungodly. That's tough. There's a way you can deal with that. Perhaps you can distance yourself a little bit and pray for him or pray for her and see if they are willing to come into the faith to be a better person, I can say, in some way.
Prayer is powerful. That's why we pray. We pray. Jesus says, whatever we ask in his name, he will do it. So if you pray for him or pray for her. To be a better person, then God will listen to your prayer and he will answer you. Okay? So it's not always a hard decision. You just have to be wise in how you handle the situation.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners. Number two. Don't hang out with sinners, don't try to figure out what they're doing, don't worry about what they're doing, who cares, let's just, let's pray against them and move on and nor sits in the seat of the scornful, don't be scornful, don't just come against people who are holy, who are righteous in whatever religion it is.
Not just Christianity, but it could be other religions and you see them and they're like, and you don't be disdainful of people who pray, who have faith, every, we have free will. And so we are able to have the belief that we want to have. And so if that's not your belief, okay, let, don't be against people and talking about them and just because.
They don't believe what you believe. That's just a part of life. Everyone's not going to be the same. You have to find your group, your people. And so that's what this is about. David in the Psalm one here is telling us, we have to find our people. Everybody has a people, and so if those aren't your people, fine, but you don't need to be nasty against them.
Okay. So let's get to the good part, but his delight. Light is in the law of the Lord. Woo! It's the light. How do you be blessed? You love the word of God. You love the word of God. It's the light is in the word and the Lord and the law of the Lord. And in his law, he meditates day and night. You meditate, you're thinking about it, it's on your mind, you're pondering you're pondering it.
I'm writing a book on meditation and this is part of it, this is, that, meditating on the word of God is so powerful and it's, that's how you're blessed, okay? So you love the law, you think about the law all the time, day and night, all day. You're thinking about what the Bible says, what the word of God, and this is not something that has to be religious.
No. I remember one day walking down the street with my daughter when she was way younger. And we were looking at some flowers. Actually we were walking down the street and we were passing by some flowers. And so I would just say, Look at the flowers. Jesus says, look at the flowers. It can be that simple.
Because Jesus says in Matthew oh, 20 something. Look at the flowers. You see how beautiful they are. And he's telling us not to worry about clothes and food. And what we're going to wear. And so I, it can be that simple. Just, Oh look at the, Jesus says, look at the flowers. It's not something that has to be so religious and, Oh, I got to get my Bible out all the time.
No, this is just a part. This is your everyday walk with the Lord. Okay. It's a good thing to meditate on his word. But his delight is in the law of the Lord. Number one. And in his law, he meditates day and night. So two and three, he meditates in the day, he meditates in the night. So there's three ways to not be blessed.
And there's three ways to be blessed. So what does that mean? He meditates day and night, meaning, in the morning, you love God. And in the afternoon or in the nighttime, then you want to go do some ungodly things, a little bit of drugs, a little bit of, this, theft, there's all kinds of things happening in the night.
You gotta be in love with him day and night, not just when you're with other believers or if you go to church or what have you, but day and night. You're following God all the time. Not just when you're in front of other people, but day and night.
Okay, he shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit and its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper. So he's like a tree planted by the river.
He brings forth fruit in his season. The tree brings forth fruit. So if it's an apple tree, it brings it forth. It doesn't fail. It doesn't fail to produce all the time. Don't you want to be like that? You don't want to fail ever. So this is how you do it. You don't hang around with ungodly people. You don't listen to what sinners have to say and you don't Be scornful or disdain people who are, who believe, or who have different beliefs than you.
And you delight in the law of the Lord. And you meditate day and night. And I'll keep you abreast of my meditation book. And cause that'll help you learn how to meditate. And you can do that at any time of the day. All day. All night. Just like it says here. Just like King David is saying. singing to us.
So I'm going to play the bridge one more time as an encouragement to you. And Lord God, I thank you for those who are listening here, whether they're live or whether they see or hear this podcast later, Lord God, just bless them. Make them be in the path of the righteous. Help them to be there, help them to avoid sinners and the scornful.
And the ungodly and to keep them along the path of the river so that their fruit can grow and they will prosper. In the name of Jesus. You're like a tree. Planted by the river.
Bare fruit. It's your season. Your leaves. Will not.
And remember to love God, love you, and love people.
